UPENDRA NAYAK b.1945
Graduated in Architecture from Sir J J college of architecture in Mumbai. Since 1965 trained in painting as an apprentice with Mr. S.U.Nayak eminent impressionist painter. Since 1969 regularly participated in exhibitions at Bombay Art Society annual show, Maharashtra State Art exhibition and Lalit Kala academy shows at New Delhi. Awarded best oil painting (Sponsored by Camlin) at Bombay Art Society’s exhibition in the year 1970. Awarded silver medal in the year 1971 at Bombay Art Society’s annual exhibition (Gold medal not awarded that year) Regularly held one man shows at Taj Art Gallery, Taj Mahal Hotel, Bombay. 1971 onwards Paintings are in prominent collections in India and abroad. Awarded Rajiv Gandhi Award in the year 1995 for the excellence in the field of Architecture and design. Has been actively involved in workshops and activities related to art and design with various institutes since 2000 in New York and Amsterdam Held one man shows at Jehangir Art Gallery in 2014 and again in 2018 Member of Bombay Art Society since 1969.
